CALLING ALL ARTISTS!

“Paint the Basilica” gives talented WNYers the chance to create original renditions of the Shrine. This beloved annual event welcomes artists of all ages and skill levels to capture the beauty of the Basilica, both inside and out, through painting, drawing, and creative expression. From the grandeur of the sacred interior to the iconic exterior architecture and gardens, participants are invited to see the Shrine through their own artistic lens while celebrating the inspiration and history found within this treasured landmark.

PAINT OUTSIDE - June 13 & 14 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Paint Out rain date is June 20 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

PAINT INSIDE - June 14 between 1:30 and 4 p.m.


  • Pre-registration for both events is encouraged by Friday, June 12, at noon.
  • Artists must check in at the pavilion behind the Basilica before Paint Out (9-10 a.m.) or Paint In (12:30-1:30 p.m.) sessions to have blank surfaces approved.
  • Completed artwork can be submitted by July 10 for judging and inclusion in an art exhibit that will take place in the Father Baker Museum (lower level of the Shrine) during Father Baker Weekend (August 1-2).
  • To appear in thbe exhibit, artwork must be original and mostly created on-site. Artists must provide their own materials, framing and wire hanging.
